Recreational Play Cags
Recreational cags are designed for many wet activities. We wear them when we splash around, stop to rest, eat, enjoy the scenery, or go for a swim.
A long sleeve cag provides better protection than sports clothes, as you may be wet for longer and want to stay warm. The robust fabric protects you from a chafing buoyancy aid or any rough bits in the sea you come in contact with.
The design allows for free motion while keeping the wind and cold spray water off your body. The shoulder area is loose fitting to allow for free movement. Trapped air may give you some buoyancy. The long tapered sleeves hold less water which helps with swimming. Better cags have neoprene cuffs to reduce water flow. Raise your arms to drain any water out.
Beachcombing
Beachcombing involves walking along the shoreline and searching for interesting items such as shells, driftwood or sea glass. When you are by the water's edge, you will get wet from waves that crash onto the shore, causing water to splash up onto your clothes.
When you venture into the water, it is easy to step into shallow pools to watch the marine life in their natural habitat. On sunny days these rock pools warm up quickly. A play cag and robust clothes protect your skin while in the water.
Surf Splash Fun
Splashing around in the surf is huge fun in a play cag, one of the most exciting immersion sports. It's a constant in and out of the water. You run into the waves and they push you around. Run away and they catch you again. It feels like being in a washing machine.
Robust clothes like jeans, pullover, and a play cag avoid getting bruised when the waves throw you onto the beach. Canoeing cags with their taped sleeve design are best for wild water swimming.

Swimming in my Cagoules
by Tom from Bristol, EnglandI bought my first cagoule a while ago, when they became a little more trendy once again. I was ridiculed by a few people when swimming in a cagoule, sniggered at in that way which gives you a little smugness inside. You know you're doing something right when following your own path.
Typically later, some of those poking fun were predictably trawling Ebay for cagoules themselves. They then came to the beach or pool to look good and colourful in the water.
Now I have many cagoules to choose from.
A few friends of mine also started swimming in cagoules to keep fit and warm,
but more likely for the fun and feel good factor.
We often wear them when we meet on the beach or in the local pool.
Extreme Weather
from James, Wellington, New ZealandSo like, my passion for cagoules started 'cause I've got heaps of different ones and they all look so rad. The weather here is pretty extreme, right? So these bad boys keep me dry and looking cool as a cucumber. It's always raining here, so there's no other choice!
On the beach, it's always heaps of fun playing with my bro in the water. Our parents told us we gotta wear clothes in the water because they keep us warm, protect us from sunburn, and make sure other people at the beach can see us.
I love cosy cags (you know, those cool anoraks), rainpants, and hoodies, either for a swim or just splashing around. They are designed for swimming with tapered sleeves that don't take on much water. Never thought being safe could feel so awesome!
Over time, I got used to always swimming in clothes and enjoy it big time, even in the swimmingpool.
I taught my younger brother this skill and he took to it like ducks to water.
Beach Fun
from Pascal, Brighton, EnglandRight, so from the nipper stage, I've always been a right bobby-dazzler in the water. Bless my mum and dad, they knew to kit me out with proper swimmy bits to keep me toasty warm, no matter the blustery weather, or safe from sunburn if the old sun was being a bit cheeky with the rays, you know?
But listen, there's this right corker of an adventure essential, a good comfy play cag. It's gotta be part of any ol' water lark, whether it's poppin' about in a canoe, whizzin' down in a kayak, bodysurfing like a right pro, or even a good old open-water dip.
See, I chuck it on over whatever I'm lairy in at the time, and then *whoosh*, straight into the drink with me mates! It's brill, innit? Feels like wearin' yer own little bit of sunshine out there, and makes a right old splash when you leap in. Proper good fun, it is! 😄
